PerHydrogen is setting up a local facility to produce over 150 high-quality culture media products locally in Africa—including prepared plate media, chromogenic media, bottled media, and tube media—to support clinical, pharmaceutical, food, water, and environmental testing across the continent.

Quality

PerHydrogen is committed to world-class standards from day one. While we are currently in the fundraising stage, all of our planned culture media products are being developed in alignment with internationally recognised standards — including EU GMP, USP, FDA aseptic guidance, and SAHPRA requirements for in vitro diagnostics in South Africa’s public health system

Local Manufacturing

PerHydrogen is advancing self-reliance in life sciences across Africa. We have launched our first fundraising round to establish local manufacturing of diagnostics. With our facility, processes, equipment, and formulations fully designed in-house, we are ready to move into construction and deliver a reliable, homegrown production capability.

Reach

PerHydrogen’s manufacturing and distribution hub will be based in Johannesburg, South Africa — a key logistics centre with direct links to all 16 SADC member states. With average flight times of just 2 hours and 30 minutes to regional capitals, the hub will enable fast, reliable delivery of critical diagnostic supplies across Southern Africa and the wider African continent.

Partnership

Africa carries 25% of the global disease burden but produces less than 1% of its diagnostics (WHO, 2021; Africa CDC, 2023). PerHydrogen has completed the design of its facility and proprietary automation systems — construction is ready to begin once funding is secured.
