Across Africa—and particularly in the SADC region—health systems face gaps that delay outbreak response. During COVID-19, shortages of viral transport media severely constrained testing. Viral Transport Fluid (VTF) is essential for the safe collection, stabilization, and transport of specimens to labs, forming the backbone of early detection, surveillance, and confirmation of outbreaks.

PerHydrogen is establishing local VTF production, alongside 150 other microbiology products, to directly support Africa CDC’s New Public Health Order and WHO Africa’s Integrated Disease Surveillance and Response framework.

By building local capacity, meeting global standards, and partnering with public health institutes and reference labs, we reduce reliance on fragile supply chains, strengthen emergency readiness, and deliver a resilient, self-sustaining health ecosystem. This positions our work as a high-impact opportunity for strategic funding and technical support.
